4:30 PM Update: Brown County Sheriff’s officials identified the victim in this accident as Aaron Michael Perez – 25 years of age – of Brownwood.  No other details were provided by investigating deputies.

Original story: According to law enforcement officials, one man died in what appears to have been an industrial accident at the Ethos Pet Nutrition plant on Stephen F. Austin in Brownwood Friday morning.

Brown County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation of the death which was reported at approximately 8:45 a.m. Friday.  BCSO Chief Bobby Deputy Duvall stated that investigators were on scene shortly after the accident and were in the initial phase of the investigation.

“We are in the process of interviewing coworkers during the core of the investigation,” said Duvall.   “No official cause of the accident has been determined; however, initial indications are pointing toward an industrial accident, possibly the employee fell into a piece of machinery.”

Brown County Justice of the Peace Walter Croft pronounced the death at the scene.
