BANGS – During Monday night’s meeting, the Bangs City Council approved issuing a request for proposals for construction of a community splash pad.
During the August meeting, council member Greg Parrott spoke of a Municipal Development District proposal to spend up to $75,000 for a new splash pad to be located in the downtown park area. With the price estimated to be more than $50,000, the project must go out for bids.

In other business Monday, the City Council approved:
- Ordinance for a Master Fee Schedule, which includes a 50 percent increase for a new water taps and sewer taps. Water taps will increase from $600 to $900 and sewer will climb from $400 to $600.
- Painting of a pickle ball court to be located on the community basketball court near City Hall
- Auctioning excess equipment
- The City’s purchasing policy
- A Memorandum of Understanding with the LRCA regarding radios for members of the police and volunteer fire departments
- Blocking 3rd Street between the high school and middle school between 5:30 and 9 p.m. on Sept. 28 as part of the “See you at the pole” rally
- Casting individual votes in the TML Health 2022 Board of Trustees Election, which will then be presented to City Administrator Erica Berry, who will then cast Bangs’ vote for the candidate who received the consensus.
- The 2022-23 fiscal year budget for the Municipal Development District
- The 2022-23 fiscal year budget for the Economic Development Cooperation
- The 2022 Christmas Parade and Cookies with Santa events.
- Road closures on Oct. 5 for the homecoming parade and Dec. 10 for the Christmas parade
A public hearing on the 2022-23 fiscal year city budget and tax rate will now be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 as the proposed budget was not previously posted and made available to the public. The 2022-23 fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
The City Council also tabled until the October meeting approving updates to the Police Department Policy and Procedures Manual as a copy of the proposed updated version as not on hand Monday night.
