ABILENE – The Brownwood Freshman Lions highlighted a three-game sweep by the maroon and white in subvarsity action here Thursday with a 40-12 rout of the Class 5A Division II Abilene Wylie Bulldogs during the middle game of a tripleheader.
After a scoreless first period, the Freshman Lions reeled off six touchdowns over the final three quarters to ease past Wylie.
Brownwood tallied the first two touchdowns in the second period on a 53-yard run by Aiden Driskill and a 30-yard pass from Robbie Robinson to Carson Noe. Eliuth Valenciano added extra points to put the Lions in front, 14-0.
Wylie close the gap to 14-6 prior to halftime, but the Lions accounted for the only points in the third period on a 4-yard scoring toss from Robinson to Noe.
Leading 20-6, Brownwood tacked on three more scores in the fourth period. First, Driskill connected with Noe on a 23-yard scoring toss, then Robinson scored on a 1-yard carry after Grant Gray returned an inside kick to the Wylie 14. The last touchdown for the Lions came from Driskill on a 2-yard carry.
Defensive standouts for the Lions were Robinson with five tackles, an interception and a pass deflection; Reese Bishop with four tackles, including one for loss; Elias Munoz with three tackles; and Brinson Martin with two tackles.

Combined Team 12, Wylie 8
The Brownwood Lions Combined Team scored both their touchdowns in the second period and held off a second-half Wylie charge for the victory.
The first Brownwood trip to the end zone came on a 57-yard pass from Dallas Shumaker to Neveah Menefield. Later, Shumaker added a 2-yard touchdown carry.
Wylie scored its touchdown in the third period.
Aiden Pena led the Lions with five receptions while Stephen Rodriguez caught two passes.
Defensive standouts included Jonathan Bush with three sacks; Raul Eberhardt with one sack; Jahai Calloway with a fumble recovery; Treyvon Mitchell with two tackles, including one for loss and one sack; and Zak Zabecki with two tackles, one for loss, one sack and a forced fumble.
