Wallace R. Pierce, 92, of Bangs went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with Dr. Pepper Dill officiating. Burial will follow at Mukewater Cemetery in Bangs. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.
Wallace was born on December 9, 1920, in Salem, Texas to Oscar and Ethel Edith Pierce and lived in Brown County his entire life. He married Betty Walker in Bangs on February 8, 1947, and graduated from Howard Payne University that same year. Wallace devoted his life to serving the Lord and pastored at many churches in central Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bangs, NRA, Texas Sherriff’s Association and the Lions Club. Wallace was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was deeply devoted to the Lord and spent many hours studying scripture.
Wallace is survived by his wife Betty of Bangs; children Bruce Pierce of Brownwood and Pamela Jo Pierce of Denton, Texas; granddaughters, Tarrah Lancaster and husband Adam of Denton, Texas, Farrah Moser and husband Shane of Weatherford, Texas, Toya Haas of Arizona and Christie Cone on Irving, Texas; sister Gloria Todd of Amarillo, Texas and great granddaughters, Sage and London.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wallace Owen Pierce; brothers, James Pierce, Jack Pierce, Truman Pierce and sister, Lillie Mae Horn. Condolences for the family may be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
