WIMBERLEY – The Brownwood Lady Lions split their final two matches at the Wimberley volleyball tournament Saturday, defeating Class 5A Bastrop Cedar Creek in two sets and falling to Class 5A Elgin in three sets.
In the Lady Lions’ 25-22, 25-23 win over Cedar Creek, Brownwood received five kills from Aubrie Felux, three each from Ava Choate, Kassidy Wooten, Miranda Northcutt, Aniah Hines and Ibis Alvarado, and two from Hannah Deen.
Choate, Felux and Hines served two aces apiece, while Alvarado was credited with 47 assists.
Northcutt tallied Brownwood’s lone block, and Alvarado recorded two digs.
In the 25-13, 25-14, 27-25 loss to Elgin, a traditional five-set match, the Lady Lions were led by Felux with seven kills, Deen with five, Choate and Northcutt with four each, Alvarado with two and Hines with one.
Alvarado finished with 59 assists and served three aces, Wooten added two aces, and Hines, Choate and Felux logged one apiece.
Wooten and Alvarado tallied two digs each.
The Lady Lions (2-5) will visit San Angelo Central at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
