The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Thursday morning:
On Wednesday, July 20 at approximately 7 p.m. officers were dispatched to Sonic, 1500 Austin Ave, regarding a report of forgery. Dispatchers received a call from Sonic employees of a citizen parked at a stall who was attempting to purchase drinks with a fake $100 bill.
Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle. When they approached the vehicle, they identified 43-year-old Sabra Denise Webb and 20-year-old Bryan Allen Turner, of Brownwood. Both subjects exited the vehicle and were detained.
During the interview, Webb claimed the fake bill came from a local bank and was insistent that was the case. The fake bill was inspected, and it was noted that the paper the bill was printed on was of poor quality, there was no water marks, and a black line was evident on the top of the bill as if it was copied and poorly cut to size. A second bill was located in Webb’s wallet and this bill was consistent with the first fake bill and also had the same serial number.
Both subjects were unable to provide consistent information or supporting documents to show how the fake bills were legitimately obtained. Both subjects were arrested and charged with Forgery.
