On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at approximately 9:10am, first responders for the City of Brownwood were dispatched to a report of an accident in the 300 block of Avenue D. Several callers reported that a vehicle drove through a building.
When police officers arrived on scene, they observed members of the Brownwood Fire Department and AMR Ambulance service employees tending to several individuals. Information gathered at the scene indicated that the driver of a white Chevrolet pickup truck suffered some type of medical emergency and became unresponsive while traveling northbound in the 3100 block of 377 South. The Chevrolet pickup continued accelerating and struck the south-facing wall of the Horne Pipe and Supply building. The pickup continued inside the building and exited through the westside wall and traveled another 100ft before coming to a stop against a parked RV.
The driver of the pickup was removed by medical personnel and transported to the Hendrick Medical Center – Brownwood for treatment. Only minor injuries were reported for any employee of the business.
