A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 P.M. on July 9 at the Brownwood Country Club.
Peggy was born on July 27th, 1936 to R.G. (Dick) and Lillie Jones of Democrat, Texas. Peggy graduated from Zephyr High School and attended Howard Payne College. She served 3 years as a flight attendant for American Airlines – a job she cherished.
Peggy married C.L. (Bud) Ross on July 12th, 1964 in Brownwood. Together they raised three children. She was a loyal member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served in many capacities. Peggy could be called on for any need of the church and gave of her time and dedication.
Peggy was an active member of the Women’s Club of Brownwood, Friends of Rotary, and the Brownwood Garden Club. She was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for years until she could no longer drive to make her deliveries. In the summer months, you could find her in the yard on her little stool, working in her flowerbeds. She definitely had a “green” thumb! Peggy was an avid bridge player taking every opportunity to play with her many good friends.
Peggy’s love of animals was known throughout the community. One cat or one dog was not enough when she could give a good home to three or four! The animals are too numerous to mention, but all of them were treated as “member’s of the family”!
Peggy is survived by her three children: Shawna Dodson and her husband Ray of Zephyr, Texas; Dr Marnie Ross and her husband Dr Bill Atlas of San Antonio, Texas; and Cliff Ross and his wife Merisha of Brownwood, Texas. She was affectionately known as “Pebby” by her five grandchildren: Morgan Dodson Howard and her husband Brett of Dalhart, Texas; Evan and Aiden Atlas of San Antonio, Texas; and Autumn and Landry Ross of Brownwood, Texas. And, her great granddaughter Sloan Ross Howard of Dalhart, Texas. Peggy is survived by one sister, Mary Alice (Tommy) Stalcup of Enid, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, C.L (Bud) Ross and her parents, R.G (Dick) and Lillie Jones.
