Howard Payne University recently hosted Boy Scouts of America Troop 14 of Brownwood for a special Flag Day ceremony, raising flags for the first time outside of the newly constructed Newbury Family Welcome Center on the corner of Austin Avenue and Center Avenue in Brownwood.
“Raising our Nation’s flag, the Texas flag and the Christian flag at the Newbury Family Welcome Center for the first time was a fitting way to commemorate Flag Day,” said Bob Pacatte, HPU chief of police.
The ceremony took place at the flagpoles outside the Newbury Family Welcome Center. The flags were raised by Roman Delgado; Zac Ellis, Eagle Scout and assistant scout leader; JP Haines; Alex Ripley; and Aiden Williams. The call to order was given by Aaron Bass. They were joined by Lance Anderson and Lauren Pulley, assistant scout leaders.
