Derrick Stuckly first arrived in Brownwood in 2004 as a young 28-year-old aspiring writer working for the Brownwood Bulletin.
Derrick has told me that he really wasn’t sure how long he would be in Brownwood when he moved here.
Well, here we are 18 years later, and he has become one of the truly great writers this area has ever known.
I have known Derrick personally since 2009 when we started the “Pigskin Pick’em Show” along with the great Dallas Huston. Two years ago, Derrick made the move to take over Brownwood News.
Since that time, I have gotten to know Derrick in a much more personal way. I have seen his work ethic firsthand. He works tirelessly to provide the readers of all the latest news, sports, and more.
On Saturday, June 4th at Warren Gym, during the FCA All-Star Baskeball games, that hard work and dedication paid off as Derrick received the Dallas Huston Christ in the media award. It was presented by Dallas Huston himself.
I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. Congrats, Derrick! Now, we can all officially say “The award-winning Derrick Stuckly”! Though, he could have already received many other awards in my opinion. I’m sure more will follow!
