On May 30, author Debora Dyess will release Good Night, Zoo! on Amazon.com, just in time for summer reading. This rhyming tale, vibrantly illustrated with crazy-looking zoo animals and their faithful zookeeper, is available in both print and ebook formats.
Local author, Debora Dyess, has been writing since she could hold a pencil and learned to type before she started school. “I always have a story in my head,” she explains with a smile. “Some are better than others, but they live up there, rattling around and begging for attention. And Good Night, Zoo! made it out.” Using digital formats to compensate for a slight impairment, Dyess created bright, fun images to go along with the rocking rhymes of the zookeeper’s exit from the zoo. “See you later, alligator is just the beginning!” Dyess says.
This book is a wonderful bedtime story, although it can be enjoyed any time of day. The rhythm and rhyme make it a perfect book to read to your baby, a story that toddlers will love and mimic, and a fun ‘I-can-read-this-book-all-by-myself’ tale for early readers,
“As a former teacher, I know the value of hooking kids into reading right from the beginning,” Dyess explains. “There’s nothing like the joy I felt as I watched four of my grandchildren sitting, spell-bound, as I read this to them. It was wonderful!”
