The 81st Annual Comanche Rodeo and Parade, sponsored by 5G Land & Cattle, is slated for Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 at the Comanche Rodeo Grounds.
Grand entry for the rodeo begins at 8 p.m. each night and will include performances by trick roper Brice Chapman, the Concho Chicks synchronized horse drill team and rodeo clown Chase Nolan. Mutton bustin’ begins at 7:30 p.m. each night and there will also be a calf scramble for kids. The event is sanctioned by the Senior World Professional Bull Riders Association.
The parade is slated to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at the Downtown Square with grand marshals Randy and Sue Magers. There will $3,000 given away in prizes for parade entries and riding clubs, including most authentic float, most coordinated appearance, farthest traveled.
For those participating in the parade, line up no later than 4 p.m. on Grand Street at Comanche Funeral Home. Candy may be thrown, but be sure the candy is clear of the float if thrown.
All horses must have proof of current Coggins test, and all dogs must have current pet tags, proof of vacations, and be on a leash.
Participants will be judged before the start of the parade and winners will be announced at the Comanche Open Rodeo Saturday, June 18 at 7 p.m.
There is no specific theme this year.

Riding clubs please plan on staying to ride in the rodeo grand entry.
The weekend of festivities will conclude with a 10:15 p.m. Saturday, June 18 free concert and dance by No Justice.
