EASTLAND – The Bangs Lady Dragons scored all their runs in the top of the sixth inning, rallying past the Breckenridge Lady Bucks for a 3-1 victory in Game 1 of a Region I-3A softball bi-district playoff series.
Game 2 between the District 8-3A third seed Lady Dragons (16-8) and District 7-3A runner-up Lady Bucks (18-8) is slated for 6 p.m. Friday back at Eastland. Game 3, if needed, is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday, also in Eastland.
Down 1-0 in the sixth inning, Bangs started the frame with a walk by Jacee Miller, then Neeley Bradley reached on a single ahead of a game-tying RBI double by Abby Wolf. With one out, Jadyn Miller’s RBI infield single allowed Bradley to score. Julianne Ethridge then provided an insurance run with an RBI single that plated Wolf.
Breckenridge scored its lone run in the bottom of the first inning as Wolf surrendered six hits, struck out eight and walked three.
Bangs overcame 15 strikeouts by tallying seven hits – three by Wolf, two by Ethridge, and one each by Bradley and Jadyn Miller.
