For the fourth straight day, early voting numbers increased for the May 7 city elections as 188 voters turned out Thursday to increase the overall total to 645. On Monday 138 ballots were cast followed by 149 on Tuesday, and 170 on Wednesday.
Early voting continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, April 29 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m Monday, May 2 and and Tuesday, May 3 at through at the Elections Office at 613 N. Fisk.
The following are the races taking place within Brown County, with a list of candidates:
- Brownwood Mayor: Incumbent Stephen Haynes, Patrick McLaughlin IV
- Early School Board Place 4: Incumbent Bobby Brinson, Andrew Castanuela.
- Bangs City Council (Three seats): Incumbent Marisa Craddock, Danny Marney, Waymond Sheppard, William Loyd, and Greg Parrott. (Anita Purcell, and Sheila Roberts not seeking re-election)
- Bangs School Board 3-year term (vote for up to two) Incumbent Eric Lykins, incumbent Dennis Sanchez and Sandra Lehman
- Bangs School Board Unexpired term (vote for one) Joshua Purcell, Jennifer Valdez McCoy, and Brooke Loyd. (Jerry Roberts is not seeking re-election)
- Brown County Water Improvement District #1 Board of Directors (vote up to two): Incumbent Bert Massey, Joe Stieber, Brad Simpson. (Ted Simpson is not seeking re-election).
- Brookesmith ISD $9.95 million bond vote (Bonds will used for various projects throughout the district, such as new HVAC equipment, campus renovations and improvements, acquisition of land and a possible football/track and athletic complex)
