Funeral Services for Dick Low Womack, age 75, of Lake Brownwood, Texas will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Heartland Funeral Home with Jerry Walker officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Rocky Creek Cemetery, Hwy 279. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Womack passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 in a local nursing home.
Dick was born on August 30, 1937 in Lamesa, Texas to Frank and Laura Hester Womack. On July 19, 1974 he was married to Judy Clanton in Lawton, Oklahoma.
A veteran with 22 years of service, (Retired) 1st SGT Womack served three tours in Vietnam and served as an advisor to the Korean Army. He was an Army recruiter in Mineral Wells for many years. Dick and Judy lived in various places throughout his military career and moved to Lake Brownwood in 1980.
Dick served as Chief for the Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Dept and was an active member for 17 years. He served as president of the Central Texas Fire Fighters Association. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished guitar player. For years he was MC and provided entertainment for local and area musicals where he brought many smiles to many faces, young and old.
Survivors include his wife Judy Womack of Lake Brownwood; two sons Troy Hill of Brownwood and Danny White and wife Susie of Lipan, Texas; one daughter Patsy Eubanks and husband Leon of Anacoco, Louisiana; one brother Bert Womack of Lamesa; one sister Sylvia McCulley and husband Dick of Tulsa, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; Shawna Kay of Vidor, Texas, Bobby Eubanks of Anacoco, Louisiana, Danny White and Karen Snow of Lipan, Texas, Dallas White of Monett, Missouri, Silver Criddle and Cody Hill of Fritch, Texas, Brooke Hair of Brownwood, Texas, Shayla Hill of Bangs, Texas and Shelby Hill of Abilene, Texas. Sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons J.R. Hill and Jimmy White, one grandson Chad Hill and by four brothers Jay, Ray, Charles Ned and Nathan Womack.
