The Lions (4-10-1, 1-4) fell to the bottom of the district standings with the loss as Glen Rose (7-10, 2-3) picked up its second league win over Brownwood. The two teams meet again for the final time in district competition at 7 p.m. Friday at Morris Southall Field.
Brownwood finished with six hits – two each by Jakob Hataway, Gavin Brandstetter and Campbell Gilmore, and one apiece from Case Markham and Logan Posey, who doubled and two drove in two. Hataway also doubled, while Brandstetter, Gilmore and Cole Miller contributed RBIs.
Markham started on the mound and allowed four runs on four hits, including a home run, with one walk in one-third of an inning. Miller pitched 4.2 innings of relief and gave up three runs on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Kyle Ivy tossed the last inning and yielded one hit with a pair of strikeouts.
