The Howard Payne Lady Jacket softball team recorded their first conference win of the season, splitting a double header against LeTourneau University 7-1, and 1-12.
Game One
After scoring one run in the second inning, Howard Payne used a six-run fourth to give them a lead 7-0.
LeTourneau was able to add one run to the board in the fifth but were unable to catch up, leaving HPU with the win 7-1.
Catcher Patricia Davila led the Lady Jackets at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Alexia Perkkio and Maddison Cason ech recorded two RBI.
Heather Wineman recorded the win for the Lady Jackets pitching all 7.0 innings allowing one run on seven hits with two strikeouts.
Game Two
The Lady Jackets were outhit 1507 by the LeTourneau.
Howard Payne got its only run of the game in the 5th on an Elaine Gonzalez up the middle scoring Tori Muro.
Tori Muro was 2-for-3 at the plate. Deandra Longoria, and Ayleen Castillo each went 1-for-2.
Bree Cason started in the circle for the Lady Jackets recording the loss, pitching 2.2 innings allowing six runs on seven hits with three strikeout. Hannah Morales was the reliever pitching 3.1 innings allowing six runs on seven hits.
HPU is now 4-18 overall, and 1-13 in ASC play. LeTourneau is 7-15 overall, and 4-10 in ASC play. The Lady Jackets will finish the series against LeTourneau on Saturday, March 26th at Lady Jacket Park starting at noon.
