EARLY – The Early Lady Horns notched their first District 8-3A softball victory with an 11-6 triumph over Comanche Saturday.
The Lady Horns (12-4, 1-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning, Comanche crept to within 5-3 in the top of the fourth, but Early answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to keep the Maidens at bay.
Early’s 13-hit attack featured three each from Jordan Simmons and Teagan Lopez, two apiece by Taylor Summers and Jordan McIntire, and Aubrey Greaves, Marissa Reedy and Grace LaRue each contributed one. Simmons also led the way with three RBIs followed by Lopez, LaRue and McIntire with two RBIs apiece, while Summers and Reedy chipped in one each.
In the circle, Lopez worked six innings and allowed six runs – two earned – on four hits with seven strikeouts and six walks to notch the win. LaRue recorded the last three outs, yielding a hit and a walk in the process.

Early is back in action at Millsap at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
