Betty Jones, age 94, of Lake Jackson, and formerly of Coleman, died Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. Luke’s Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Chas Shira, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
She was born Betty Joyce Irvin on October 18, 1927, in Haskell, Texas to Virgil Irvin and Bonnie Barron Irvin. Betty grew up in Santo, Texas where she graduated from high school. After graduation, Betty went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. She married Jack L. Perryman in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1962. Betty then married Bill Glenn Jones in 1970, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Glenn and Betty relocated to Coleman in 1983 where she was a member and secretary for First Baptist Church in Coleman. After Glenn died in 2004, Betty moved to Lake Jackson to be closer to her family. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed having conversations with them. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Betty is also preceded in death by one stepson, Steven Jones.
She is survived by her son, Howard Perryman and wife Kathleen of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
