The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Wednesday afternoon:
On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at approximately 3 a.m. officers were dispatched to Whataburger, 411 E Commerce, regarding a report of a suspicious vehicle.
When officers arrived, they identified 41-year-old Kimberly Lynn Thomas of Pflugerville, Texas. Thomas explained that she and her husband were traveling through to Abilene and stopped at this location to rest. The husband was identified as 33-year-old Bradley Michael Stanton of San Antonio, Texas.
A communications check confirmed a warrant for Stanton. Stanton was arrested, and while being placed in the rear seat of a patrol vehicle, a strong odor of burned marijuana was detected emitting from him. Based on this information, a narcotics investigation was commenced.
Thomas was asked to exit the vehicle and at this time another male was found inside the van. This male was identified as 21-year-old Cooper Lee Wilson of Austin, Texas.
During the narcotic investigation, a small quantity of various narcotics and paraphernalia were located inside a common area of the vehicle. Based on the findings all subjects were arrested.
All subjects were charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Xanax without a prescription, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Heroin and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
