Sandra Gayle Burton passed away after a lifelong courageous fight against Parkinson’s Disease in Odem, Texas, on February 25, 2022. She was 78 years old.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 56 years, Virgil Burton, as well as her older brother and his wife, John and Linda McDonald, and their children Corey, Donny, Michelle, and Alicia, as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins. Sandra was affectionately known as Aunt Sandra to all in her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents John and Annie McDonald.
Sandra was born on December 9, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas, to John and Annie L (Wallace) McDonald. She graduated from Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1963. She was crowned Queen of the Buccaneer Parade in 1965. She married Virgil Burton on December 30, 1966.
A viewing is scheduled for March 7, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sawyer George Funeral Home, located at 12497 Leopard Street, in Corpus Christi. Her funeral is scheduled for March 8, 2022, at 12 p.m. at Bible Believers Baptist Church, located at 1701 Rand Morgan Road, in Corpus Christi. Sandra’s brother, Pastor John McDonald, will officiate the ceremony. Sandra will be buried at Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis.
