BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 2/25

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of February 17-23, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 17 medical emergencies, 6 fire calls, 2 motor vehicle accidents and 1 hazardous materials call.

Reports of interest include:

Monday, February 18

*3:11 AM – BFD responded to a fire call in the 2300 block of Vincent regarding a structure fire.  Fire crews arrived on scene to see light smoke and all of the residence’s occupants in the yard. Firefighters searched and found the fire to be out and smoldering. Overhaul was performed and a thermal camera was used to ensure the fire was completely out.

*6:53 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 600 block of Fisk Avenue.  Firefighters were dispatched regarding fire in a stove, which was out upon arrival.  The residence was vented to remove smoke.

Tuesday, February 19

*10:20 AM – BFD responded to a three vehicle accident in the 1400 block of Belle Plain. All occupants of the vehicles refused treatment and transport.

*5:20 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2700 block of Austin Avenue where a homeowner was burning trash in the back yard.  The homeowner was advised of city ordinance and the fire was extinguished.

*5:48 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 700 block of W. Commerce.  Fire crews responded for a gas meter leaking. Firefighters located broken meter and shut off the valve.  Atmos was contacted regarding the leak.

Wednesday, February 20

*7:30 AM –BFD was called to a fire in the 200 block of Cordell.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a pile of papers on fire in ditch.  Firefighters extinguished the fire.

Thursday, February 21

*6:45 AM – BFD was dispatched regarding a transformer which was on fire.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find the top of a power pole on fire.  Oncor was notified.

*4:01 PM – BFD responded to a fire call in the 300 block of E. Commerce.  Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire.  They arrived on scene to find no fire in the vehicle; however, a loose battery cable was found and possibly oil which was smoking.

Saturday, February 23

*11:16 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1100 block of Fisk Avenue where they arrived to find steam from a shower had set the alarm off.   The incident was determined to be a false alarm.
