The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release on a pair of recent arrests:

Amanda Chandler

            On Saturday, February 19, 2022, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to WalMart, 401 W Commerce, regarding a report for theft.

            When officers arrived, they made contact with Loss Prevention employees as well as 31-year-old Amanda Chandler of Brownwood.  In the investigation, it was learned that Chandler walked throughout the store and selected items of men’s clothing that she would then take to the toy department and replace the price tags with cheaper tags from toys. Chandler then attempted to leave the store after paying a cheaper price and after not paying for another set of items.

            Chandler was arrested and charged with Theft of Property between $100 and $750 as well as Destroy, Remove or Conceal Writing less than $100. 

 

Christopher Jacob Anderson

            On Saturday, February 19, 2022, at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of W Adams regarding a report of a domestic disturbance.

            When officers arrived, they made contact with 31-year-old Christopher Jacob Anderson of Brownwood. Anderson was standing at the residence, shirtless and breathing heavy as if he was just in a fight.  Officers observed multiple cuts and scratches on his body. 

            Anderson explained that he and his girlfriend had been drinking and they got into an argument which turned physical. Anderson elaborated to officers that he gave a very small amount of an alcoholic beverage to his 1yr old child in order to help the child sleep.  He believed this was why his girlfriend was angry with him.

            The girlfriend was spoken to as well and she explained that she observed Anderson dip his finger in a glass of brandy then allow the child to suck the substance from his finger.  She believed Anderson was intoxicated, and he was providing too much alcohol to the small child.  Both began arguing and after the girlfriend picked up the small child, they began physically fighting.  It was alleged that Anderson threw the girlfriend around the room and onto the bed while fighting with her.  The fight continued until the girlfriend, picked up a box cutter and was then able to get Anderson out the doorway of the apartment.

            Anderson was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence as well as Endangering a Child.
