In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 30 positive COVID-19 test results. Of the 30 positives this week, 17 were PCR, and 13 were antigen. Of the total number of cases reported this week, 12 cases met the breakthrough definition. This includes asymptomatic, mild symptoms, and severe symptom breakthrough cases. There are 11 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19.
Six new deaths have been reported this week: one female in her 70s, three males in their 70s, one female in her 80s, and one female in her 90s from a nursing facility.
The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering COVID testing at their clinic located at 510 E. Lee Street. Testing is by appointment only. If you need to be tested for COVID, please do not walk into the clinic. Testing will be conducted at your vehicle in the parking lot. Due to the increased demand for testing, it may take a day or two to schedule an appointment with the Health Department. Other testing options are your local primary care physician, urgent care clinics, and pharmacies. Please be patient as staff attempt to serve the high volume of calls and requests for service at this time.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 5 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older. Vaccination boosters are also available.
