Peggy Jean (Lightfoot) Henegar, age 93, of May, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022. A graveside service for Peggy will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 11, in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
Peggy was born to Mable and Crystal K. Lightfoot on April 14, 1928 in Mexia, Texas. She was a graduate of Odessa High School in May of 1947. For many years, she was a secretary for the First Presbyterian Church in Odessa, and also for many other businesses. She married John A. Kuykendall, and their marriage blessed them with 4 children. She remarried Charles E. Henegar on November 13, 1986 in Georgia. Peggy also loved to read and write poetry. She was a member of the Poetry Society in Odessa, where she became a published author of many poems. She was also involved in Bridge Club, and volunteered for the Women’s Auxiliary at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where she was known as a “Pink Lady.” Peggy was a lover of country music. She was an owner and manager of the band, “Glen Ross with Sweet n Country.” During her time with the band, she had the opportunity to travel all across the United States. Peggy was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it be her kids, family, or friends.
Peggy is survived by her 3 children, Nancy Kuykendall Jacobson of Saddler, Michael Kuykendall and wife Cindy of Austin, and Vicki Kuykendall Wilkerson of Odessa; brother, Cliff Lightfoot; grandchildren, Brandy Hinton, Allison Price, John Digby, Jennifer Vierkant, and Michael Kuykendall; 13 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous other relatives, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E Henegar; son, Jeffery Kuykendall; grandson, James Thomas; parents C.K. and Mable Lightfoot; sisters, Nell Lightfoot and Bobbie Thomas; brothers, Richard, Kenneth, and Bill Lighfoot.
