GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lions squandered a 16-point first-half lead, trailed heading into the fourth quarter, but emerged with a 56-52 road victory over Glen Rose to keep their District 6-4A record unblemished.
The Lions (19-7, 3-0) led 17-5 after one quarter and the lead peaked at 28-12 in the second period before Glen Rose (17-7, 1-2) closed the gap to 30-24 by halftime. After three quarters, the Lions trailed 45-44 but outscored the Tigers 12-7 over the final eight minutes.
Jakob Hataway paced the Lions with 22 points followed by Bryson Monroe with 18, Thad Hinds with seven, Christian Kinzler with six points and Luke Moss with three.
The first-place Lions will wrap up the first half of District 6-4A action at 7:30 p.m. Friday when Lampasas invades Warren Gym.
