GLEN ROSE – The District 6-4A front-running and seventh-ranked Glen Rose Lady Tigers completed a season sweep of the Brownwood Lady Lions in a 78-33 decision Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions (18-12, 1-4) dropped a 41-26 contest in the district opener against Glen Rose (18-6, 5-0), and fell 48-21 to the Lady Tigers at the Hamilton tournament back in November.
On Tuesday, Brownwood trailed 21-8 after one quarter, 45-14 at halftime and 56-25 through three periods.
Tessa Goodwin led the Lady Lions with 14 points followed by Jaylen Savage with seven, Kynslee Walker and Mady Pyle with four each, and Lilly Brasher and Lexi Greer with two points apiece.
Brownwood shot 31 percent (12 of 38) from the floor, but 14 percent (1 of 7) on threes, while knocking down 80 percent (8 of 10) of its free throws. The Lady Lions finished with 19 rebounds and 22 turnovers.
Aimee Flippen led Glen Rose with 16 points, Lily Melton added 14, Abigail Staples chipped in 12 and Samantha Ellenburger tacked on 11.
The Lady Lions are back in action at 6 p.m. Friday as they host Lampasas, which defeated Brownwood, 55-43, on Jan. 11.
