Inge was born on May 29, 1931, in Frankfurt, Germany. She met her soulmate, Kenneth Sheffield, in Germany in 1952 and they married in 1953. Inge came to America shortly after becoming a United States Citizen. Kenneth and Inge were a military family and lived in many states and Germany throughout Kenneth’s 20 years of service to his country.
After their military life, they retired to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Inge worked at the Broadmoor Hotel, becoming a Housekeeper Inspector. Inge went to El Paso Community College during this time and with seven children at home, she earned her degree in Hotel Management. Kenneth and Inge moved back to Texas in 1976 to be closer to family, but the mountains were always calling them back home. In 1994, they answered that call and moved back to Colorado Springs, where they remained. Inge came to Texas in 2013 to visit, until her health did not allow her to return to her beloved mountains.
Inge enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, her family, being outdoors, and traveling.
Inge is survived by her six children, Patricia “Pat” Arnold, Jacqueline “Jackie” Oliver and husband Rodney, Timothy Sheffield and wife Treva, Barbara McDaniels and husband Douglas, Keith Sheffield, and Melissa “Lisa” Kirchner; son-in-law, Bill Powell; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
