In the COVID report on current cases issued by the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department last Thursday (12/30), it showed a total of 149 positive COVID cases in Brown County, an increase from 84 the week before.
Since Thursday (12/30), an additional 200 positive COVID cases have been confirmed in Brown County. Brown County Commissioners met Tuesday morning, January 4, and received an update on COVID-19 cases from Lisa Dick, administrator of the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department.
She also reported six people currently hospitalized in Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood with the COVID virus.
“We need to be careful and mindful to try to prevent COVID,” Lisa said.
She also told Commissioners that, as of Monday January 3rd, the Health Department Office is now open extended hours to facilitate more people coming in “for children’s vaccines, flu and COVID vaccines or any of the other services that the health department provides.”
The health department office is open from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm at 510 East Lee Street. They are open through the noon hour.
The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 5 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older. Vaccinations are available by appointment at the Health Department. Please call 325-646-0554 to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
