Thomas Loyed Carroll, age 72, of Brownwood, passed away in the Medical City Hospital in Fort Worth on Thursday, December 30, 2021.
He was born August 15, 1949, in Gatesville, Texas, the son of Thomas Jefferson Carroll and Gladys Odell (Williams) Carroll. He was married to Annette Reine at Tow, Texas on August 14, 1970. He served in the U. S. Army and retired serving at Fort Richardson in Alaska as a 1st Sergeant and then worked at the T. R. Havins Corrections Unit as a Correctional Officer until retiring from that job as a Lieutenant. He then worked as the animal control officer for the City of Brownwood. He had been a resident of Brownwood for the past twenty-five years moving from Evant, Texas. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Carroll of Brownwood, four sons, Ronald Casey Carroll of Brownwood, Thomas Loyed Carroll of Austin, Jeff Joseph Carroll and wife Sharon of Austin, and Shawon Carroll and wife Tara of Brownwood. Five grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac, Brett, Lucas, and Emma and a greatgrandchild, Ellie survive as well as a sister, Ann Spence, a half-brother James “Jim” Dotson, and a half-sister, Jane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Rita and a half-sister Naomi.
Services will be held at 9:30 am Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Davis-Morris Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 1:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
