Funeral services for Paul Phillips, age 79, of Early, will be held on Saturday, December 18, at 2:00 PM at Early First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to services, from 1-2 PM at Early First Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Paul passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, in a Dallas hospital.

Paul was born on March 20, 1942 to Charlie and J.L. Phillips in Detroit, Texas. He married Sherry Alana Hulse on November 9, 1963. His wife was the love of his life and Paul spent all of his life up until his last days caring for her. His favorite pastime was fishing and gambling; he never came across a slot machine he didn’t like. He had Kristi and Wade take him to Winstar Casino once a month for his escape. It was a great time and they enjoyed their getaways. He owned and operated Paul’s Muffler Shop in Brownwood for over 40 years. Paul’s grandchildren and great grandchildren made him the happiest. He enjoyed attending all of their sporting events.

Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sherry Phillips; daughter, Kristi Walker and husband Wade; grandchildren Brandon Walker and wife Sarah and their children, Ryko and Reece of Zephyr; Kandyce Brownlee and husband Chris and their children, Maddyson and Kambri of Early; Colin Walker and wife Alexus and their children, Brylie and Harper of Brownwood, and Sherry Ann Phillips and her son Zander of Early; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Phillips; parents, Charlie and J.L. Phillips; and his brothers, Charles Phillips, Ross Phillips, Bob Phillips, and Jack Phillips.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
