BURNET – The Brownwood Lady Lions were unable to hang on to a nine-point halftime lead as they were outscored 29-13 in the second half of a 47-40 loss at Burnet Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions (11-6) led 12-4 after one quarter and 27-18 at halftime, but mustered just three points in the third period as Burnet (6-7) grabbed a 31-30 lead that grew throughout the final stanza.
Brownwood shot 37 percent (15 of 41) from the field, 30 percent (4 of 13) from three-point land, and just 46 percent (6 of 13) at the free throw line. The Lady Lions also committed 26 turnovers and pulled down 25 rebounds.
Mady Pyle finished with 13 points for the Lady Lions trailed by Jaylen Savage with 11, Tessa Goodwin with eight, and Kynslee Walker and Lexi Greer with four points each.
For Burnet, Sydne Massoletti scored a game-high 20 points with 17 coming in the second half.
The Lady Lions visit Abilene Wylie at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
