Steven Allen McNabb, age 57, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Abilene surrounded by family.
Steve was born on November 23, 1964, to Thomas and Vera Anne (Baldwin) McNabb in Kermit, Texas. He grew up in Kermit and graduated from Kermit High School in 1983. He then attended and graduated from Angelo State University in 1989, where he also met his wife of 27 years, Carole Jane Connaway McNabb.
Steve, also known by many as “Stabber”, will forever be remembered by his vibrant, witty, and compassionate personality. He’ll always be known for the everyday jokes and running the best tournaments in West Texas. He truly loved what he did, and every course he touched as a golf professional was forever changed by his ability to create the atmosphere of laughter and light. Steve recently became a Lifetime Member of the Professional Golfers’ Association. His career as a golf professional started at San Angelo Country Club, and from there, Brownwood Country Club, Bentwood Country Club, and Lost Creek Country Club. Aside from the golf course, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Steve was a stranger to no one, and he will be deeply missed.
Steve is survived by his wife, Carole Jane McNabb; their two children, Morgan McNabb of McKinney and Flynn McNabb of Austin; and three miniature dachshunds, Lillie, Ruffles, and Jiggs. He is also survived by his mother, Vera McNabb; brother, Thomas McNabb and sister-in-law Rebecca McNabb; and nephews, Ryan and Justin, all of Austin. Steve considered his friends to be family as well and is survived by many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas McNabb.
A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Jackson officiating; private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
