The Brownwood Lady Lions picked up their second win in as many outings Friday, knocking off the Merkel Lady Badgers, 40-36, at Warren Gym.
The Lady Lions (2-0) – who overcame 29 turnovers – led Merkel (0-2) by a 14-11 count after one quarter and 21-18 at halftime, but were tied at 28 heading into the fourth period.
Mady Pyle sparked the Brownwood offense with 11 points thanks to a trio of three-pointers. Alexa Arreola added seven points and knocked down a trey, Tessa Goodwin and Jaylen Savage both chipped in six points, and Kynslee Walker and Kassidy Wooten added five points each.
Goodwin also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Brownwood shot 36 percent (13 of 36) from the floor, but 41 percent (5 of 12) from three-point land. The Lady Lions also knocked down 60 percent (9 of 15) of their free throws, collected 23 rebounds, and notched 13 steals.
The Lady Lions are back in action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as they play host to Lake Belton.
