Eleanor Lucille Smith, 75, of Round Rock, Texas, relinquished her soul on October 6, 2021. She was born on July 10, 1946 in Brownwood, Texas to Ralph Fred Smith and Darthie Jane Albertson Smith.
Eleanor will be remembered by: Her sisters Charlotte Smith Gott and Shirlene Smith Guthrie, Nephews and nieces; Timothy Ryan Gott & Family, Danon Michelle Gott and Joel Bandley & Family, Natalie Shae Guthrie & Family, and Monte Dwain and Jeni Lee Guthrie & Family.
Eleanor graduated from May High School in 1964. While working at Brownwood Memorial Hospital and attending Howard Payne University, she completed her Bachelor of Business Administration in 1969. Following graduation, she moved to Austin and was employed by TRACOR, a defense contractor. In 1986, she graduated from Texas State University with her Master of Business Administration. Her career included Executive Secretary for Gov. John Connally, CFO of Schlotzsky’s, Inc. Austin headquarters, and after a long, successful career as CFO with Flight Director, Inc. she retired in 2012.
Eleanor enjoyed donating blood to immunocompromised infants, crocheting for her family and friends, reading culturally sensitive historical fiction, and was a proud supporter of numerous charitable causes including: Nature Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity, Defenders of Wildlife, The Smithsonian, Audubon, as well as volunteering at St. David’s Preemie nursery.
Her greatest enjoyment was traveling the world and sharing her adventures with her family and friends.
Eleanor was a lover of all animals, especially cats. Throughout her life she spread this love upon Noe’ the sassy Siamese, Daisey the Persian princess, and her most recent companion Renoir the beseeching Bombay. Each enjoyed her pampering throughout their lives.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Fred Smith, her mother Darthie Albertson Smith, and her infant sister Sarah. All of whom were residents of May, Texas.
