Joe Guerrero, Jr.

Joe Guerrero, Jr., age 61, of Brownwood, and formerly of Santa Anna, died Sunday, October 11, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

He was born Joe Montalvo Guerrero, Jr. on December 3, 1959, in Santa Anna, a son of Joe Guerrero and Yolanda Montalvo Guerrero. Joe grew up in Santa Anna and graduated from Santa Anna High School. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for nine years. Joe then worked for Santa Fe Railroad for nine years and then went to work for Allsup’s Convenience Store in Early. He married Terry Tafoya on February 12, 2020, in Brownwood. Joe attended the Santa Anna Assembly of God Church.

Joe took great pride in being a United States Veteran. His courage and devotion will never be forgotten. Joe had a passion for collecting and shooting guns. He enjoyed going to the shooting range with his sons and trying out new guns and ammunition. Joe loved his family immensely. He enjoyed spending time with his children playing paint ball, hanging at home, or going to sporting events. Joe loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and proudly supported them by wearing his Cowboy jersey. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Yolanda Guerrero, and his brother and sister-in-law, Benny and Olga Guerrero.

Joe is survived by his wife, Terry Guerrero of Brownwood; his children, Albert Zepeda of Fort Stockton, Joe Guerrero III and wife Seaera of Santa Anna, Garey Guthrie of Coleman, Julie Alvarado and significant other Danny Woods of Brownwood, Robert Zepeda of Abilene, and John Martinez of Lubbock; 15 grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters, Dora Ramirez of Coleman, and Rachel Johnson of Abilene; and two brothers, Raul Guerrero and wife Leticia of El Paso, and Danny Guerrero of Coleman.
