MIDLOTHIAN – The Brownwood JV Lions kept their perfect record intact, defeating previously unbeaten Midlothian Heritage, 42-0, in Thursday’s District 5-4A Division I opener.
The Lions (6-0, 1-0) – who have outscored their opponents 228-13 this season – gained control early, led by quarterback Ike Hall who completed 8 of 11 passes for 251 yards and 5 touchdowns, all in the first half. Hall also ran for over 100 yards and a touchdown.
Jake Jetton caught two touchdowns while Logan McKibben, Trent Loftin, and Jordyn Nickerson each hauled in one scoring reception.
The stout Lions defense posted its fourth shutout of the year behind the play of the linebacking core. Inside linebacker Chris Robinson led the team in tackles, outside linebackers Logan Posey and Hayden Deen each recovered a fumble, and inside linebacker Stevie Ramriez tallied an interception near the goal line to secure the shutout.

Heritage 20, Freshman Lions 6
MIDLOTHIAN – The Brownwood Freshman Lions’ four-game win streak was snapped with a 20-6 loss at the hands of Midlothian Heritage Thursday.
The Lions (4-2, 0-1) fumbled the ball away twice in the first quarter and found themselves facing a 7-0 deficit heading into the second period.
There, Braeden Stacks connected with Antonio Ybarra on a 33-yard touchdown for the Lions’ only points. The two-point try was unsuccessful and Brownwood trailed 7-6 at intermission.
Heritage tacked on two second-half touchdowns for the final 14-point margin.
Defensive standouts for the Lions included Weston Wolf (7 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 QBP), Robert Trowbridge (5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 QBP), Kenyan McDowell (4 tackles, 2 PBU), and Treyvel Williams (4 tackles).

Heritage 22, Combined Team 8
The Brownwood Combined Subvarsity Lions dropped a 22-8 decision to Midlothian Heritage Thursday.
A blocked punt set up Heritage’s first touchdowns from 5 yards out.
The Lions responded with a 64-yard kick return for a touchdown by Jim Evetts, and Jaiden Gordon tacked on the two-point conversion to push Brownwood in front, 8-6.
Heritage fired back with touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to snatch the victory.
Defensive standouts included Gray Stewardson (8 tackles), Neveah Menefield (4 tackles, 2 TFL), Gordon (5 tackles), Jonathan Bush (3 tackles, 1 sack), and Alejandro Fuentes (4 tackles).
