BLANKET – Coming off back-to-back shutouts over winless Zephyr and Gholson, the Blanket Tigers notched their most impressive victory of Casey Mund’s first season as head coach with a 42-30 homecoming triumph over the Evant Elks Friday night.
Blanket (5-1) was sparked offensively by Brayden Day, who rushed for 140 yards and touchdowns of 20 and 30 yards; Carlos Morales, who picked up 79 yards on the ground and scored on carries of 12 and 8 yards, while also catching two passes for 16 yards; and Levi Vazquez, who tallied 53 yards rushing with a touchdown.
Defensively for the Tigers, Day led the way with 14 tackles and an interception against Evant (4-2), Hayden Rogers recorded 11 tackles, Morales notched eight tackles, and Vazquez finished with six tackles and two fumble recoveries, including one returned for a touchdown.
Next week, Blanket kicks off the District 15-A Division II schedule at Rising Star (2-2), which had a bye Friday night.
