Southside Church is excited to announce the 2012 Spirit of Christmas Lighted Parade Grand Marshal—Family Services Center.

In their fourth year as coordinator and sponsor of the annual parade, it is a great opportunity for Southside Church to highlight an organization that exemplifies the Spirit of Christmas by giving back to the community. The Family Services Center is just such an organization. Pictured is the core group of workers that go above and beyond in trying to offer mental health and life choice assistance to families of all make and models. The non-profit Family Services Center is led by Doak Givan and serves not only Brownwood but all of the surrounding nine counties as well.  Find out more about Family Services Center by visiting their web site at

“We expect this year’s parade to be the largest and longest one we have ever coordinated,” Eric Evans of Southside Church stated “We have expanded the parade to go completely around the County Courthouse—this will help the parade to not meet itself before all the floats have left the staging area.”

There will also be vendors selling hot chocolate and small inexpensive “glow” toys for the kids. This year the parade will be broadcast live on the Wendlee Broadcast stations as well as KOXE beginning at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 6th. KTAB Channel 32 out of Abilene will be rebroadcasting the parade as well.

There are still some spaces left in this year’s parade but space is limited to 100 entries. Visit the parade website at www.southsidebrownwood.org and click on the Spirit of Christmas Lighted Parade tab or call the church office at 325-646-0844 for additional information.
