Brownwood’s Lyric Theatre will present “You Can’t Take It With You,” a comedic play that premiered on Broadway in 1936, over the next two weekends.
Showtimes are slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

According to the Lyric website, the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy revolves around two people that have fallen in love, and when the two families meet, life and philosophy collide and the results are like fireworks. Sponsored by Grace Squared, Inc. this comedy will have you laughing out loud, and often.
The three-act play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and was adapted for the screen as You Can’t Take It with You in 1938, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director.
