GATESVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions cross country team secured another meet championship Saturday by finishing first at the Bill Bradley Invitational hosted by Gatesville High School. Meanwhile, the Brownwood Lions finished eighth in the final team standings.
The Lady Lions tallied 54 points to outdistance themselves from fellow District 6-4A schools Stephenville (71 points), in second place, and host Gatesville (86), in third place.
The Lions produced 218 points which left them behind Stephenville (43), Gatesville (62), Riesel (86), Waco Vanguard (111), Temple Holy Trinity Catholic (120), Little River Academy (128), and Bruceville-Eddy (161).
Freshman Kate Tindol placed fourth in a time of 12:53.4 to pace the Lady Lions’ effort trailed by freshman Sydney Windham (10th, 13:23.8), sophomore Emma Stegemoller (13th, 13:39), freshman Talia Craff (17th, 13:48.2), freshman Braycee Lee (13:56.1), freshman Kylea Karnes (21st, 14:08.5), freshman Miranda Northcutt (22nd, 14:08.7), freshman Alma Bernal (30th, 14:33.2), and sophomore Ava Brownlee (52nd, 15:43.5).
Competing for the Lions were freshman Jayden Garcia (39th, 20:01.5), junior Carter Fleet (51st, 21:33.9), freshman Noah Pile (52nd, 21:41.1), junior Hunter Glass (21:49.1), freshman Jose Rodriguez (22:45.7), and freshman Bralen Harvey (30:34.9).
The Lions will compete in Dublin FCA meet Wednesday, while the Lady Lions will be back in action Saturday in Lubbock at a Region I-4A preview event.
