The Howard Payne University women’s soccer team, defeated Austin College 5-1 Friday afternoon at Citizens national Bank Soccer Field.
The Lady Jackets outshot the ‘Roos 22 to four. Of those 22 shots, 16 of them were on goal.
Lexi De La Cruz scored the first goal of the afternoon in the 28th minute of the match.
Meagan Miller scored in the 36th minute on an assist from Carrie Gerdes.
Camden Chance scored in the 37th minute on an assist from Delaney Castor to make the score 3-0 at the halfway mark.
Carrie Gerdes wasted no time at the start of the second half, scoring in the 45th minute on an assist from Lexi De La Cruz.
Austin College got on the board in the 66th minute to make the score 4-1.
Lexi De La Cruz scored the last goal of the afternoon in the 66th minute on an assist from Caitlyn Hernandez to make the score 5-1.
Delaney Castor and Emily Williams each played 45 minutes in the goal for Howard Payne. Castor allowed zero goals and recorded two saves.
HPU will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 18th, at 4:30 PM in San Antonio, Texas. They will take on Trinity University.
