Brownwood FFA recently participated at District and Area competitions, taking home quite a few honors, and had two teams and one individual qualify for state competition.
Members of the Brownwood FFA teams competed at District Leadership Development Events competition at Hamilton High School on November 7th in the following events:
Ag Advocacy – 2nd place
Ag Issue Forum – 1st place
Greenhand Chapter Conducting – 6th
Greenhand Creed Speaking – 5th
Greenhand Skills– 2nd
Job Interview – 5th
Public Relations – 3rd
Radio Broadcasting – 12th
Senior Creed Speaking – 11th
Senior Skills – 1st
Spanish Creed Speaking– 2nd
The top two teams in each event advanced to the Area IV contest which was held November 17th at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. Teams from Brownwood FFA placed as follows:

Of these teams/individuals, the top two teams in each competition advance to state which will be held in Huntsville in two weeks.
According to the Texas Future Farmers of America Association, Leadership Development Events focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.
