BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons ran their win streak to four matches with a 25-23, 28-26, 25-18 home victory over Lingleville Tuesday afternoon.
After posting four wins in a makeshift weekend tournament created due to the Dublin tournament being cancelled because of COVID, the Lady Dragons continued their winning ways despite their share of ups and downs.
“We started slow and stayed pretty slow throughout the game,” said Bangs head coach Cheyanne Lovelady. “They did a lot of good things, they just need to pick up the pace. The way we finished, we finally started to move and started talking to each other and anticipating. But we have to start stronger.”
Maggie Morales led Bangs with 13 kills followed by five from Jaycee Miller, four from Rache Solis, three from Jadyn Miller and one from Wipada Pakaew.
Hadley King and Jaycee Miller both served five aces while Neeley Bradley contributed a pair and Morales added one.
King also dished out eight assists, Bradley tallied four, Laynie Evans notched two and Jadyn Miller was credited with one.
Jaycee Miller’s 24 digs were a team-best trailed by 11 each from King and Raylee Hutchins, seven from Joey Newton, five from McKenzie Hughes, three from Bradley, and two each from Pakaew, Morales and Jadyn Miller.
Morales, Solis and Jadyn Miller were each in on a block.
After a narrow win in the first set, Bangs fell behind 8-1 in the second. The Lady Dragons finally drew even at 16, but never led by more than a point until Morales delivered the final kill.
In the third set, Bangs again trailed early, 7-4, but eventually knotted the score at 13. Another kill from Morales ignited a 4-1 points spurt for the Lady Dragons, who opened an 18-14 advantage at that point and never looked back.
Bangs (10-5) is back in action at noon Saturday when they host Abilene Christian in their pre-district finale.
