The Brownwood City Council voted on Monday to hold public hearings for the 2021-22 fiscal year tax rate and budget at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 at Brownwood City Hall.

The total tax rate is proposed at $0.7317, a reduction of 1.76% from the previous year’s rate of $0.7448. The City of Brownwood assessed a proposed maintenance and operations tax rate of $0.6174 and an interest and sinking rate of $0.1143 for the $0.7317 total.
