Richard A. “Dick” Hayes, a Snyder, Texas native, residing in Comanche, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 13, 2021 at 4PM in his home surrounded by all his loved ones.

Richard was born on March 17, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Paul and Evelyn Hayes. Richard graduated from Snyder Texas High School in 1960. Then in 1961, he married the love of his life Janet, and headed to Texas Tech University on a full ride scholarship. Richard and Janet began the family he always hoped for with their daughter, Peggy, and two sons, Richie and Steve. During his high school years, some of his happiest memories were horseback riding and working for some of the biggest West Texas ranches.

In 1977, Richard and family moved to their lasting home in Comanche, Texas, more famously known today as “The Farm”. Through the years, this home has farmed peanuts, harvested pecans, dairy farmed, and most recently, raised cattle and hay.

Richard was a pipeline welder by trade and a member of the Pipeliners Union 798 for over 50 years. Upon his retirement in 2003, Richard was able to enjoy time on the farm with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren making lasting memories.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet Hayes; daughter, Peggy Rumbaugh and husband, Billy; son, Richard “Richie” Aaron Hayes Jr. and wife, Staci; grandchildren, Lindi Bridges and husband, Blake, Steven C. Hayes II and wife, Shantell, Lauren Gray and husband, Daniel, Lacey Hurt and husband, Micah; five great-grandchildren, Braydon Bridges, Bryli Bridges, Brogan Bridges, Keaton Hurt and Maddix Gray; brothers, Paul Hayes and wife Gail; sisters, Cecil Eaton (Hayes) , Barbara Decker (Hayes); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Devane Jones; brother-in-law, Joe Oliver; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Evelyn Hayes, and his youngest son, Steven C. Hayes.

Richard was known for his love of family, his witty charm, his loyalty, honesty, and respect for others. Through all the trials in life, Richard persevered and leaves the next generation of Hayeses as a pinnacle of what a man should be!

Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Gardens of Memory with Tim Williams officiating. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com.
