Sparks from a welder is believed to have started a grass fire Thursday afternoon.  Multiple Brown County fire departments responded to the 2800 block of Temple Avenue in Brownwood at mid-afternoon.

According to Darrell Johnston, Brown County Emergency Management Coordinator, 29 acres burned as a result of a property owner welding on a fence project.  One home was threatened but no structures were damaged.  Responding units were Brownwood, Lake Brownwood Dam and Bridge, Bangs, Early and Texas A&M Forest Service.
