Gerald Charles ‘Jerry’ Wagner

Gerald Charles “Jerry” Wagner, age 74, of Brownwood passed away at the Hendrick Medical Center, North in Abilene from complications of Diabetes. He was known by many as “The Pepsi Man”.

He was born October 21, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Gerald Ivan and Jane (Petrusky) Wagner. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U. S. Air Force and was awarded the purple heart for injuries received saving the life of another soldier. He worked as a service manager for Pepsi for many years and formerly worked as the kitchen manager for the Salvation Army. His main hobby was wood working and building model ships. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had been a resident of Brownwood since the early 80’s and was a Baptist. He married Julie Wilkirson in Brownwood on May 6, 2017.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, April Barnett and husband Kevin of Brownwood, a son, Gerald Wagner and wife Misty of Cisco, and grandchildren, Keegan Hall, Shayla Lynn, Gerald Austin Wagner, Autumn Petross, Jerry Wayne Petross, Jeremiah Benson, Candice Sanders, Anna Barnett, Aryn Barnett, Aidyn Barnett, Ashtyn Barnett, and Jeremy Lynn. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Chance Lynn and Emry Long as well as two step-children, Janes Gresham of Abilene and Jessica Benson of Brownwood and a sister, Cheryl Robertson of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Paul Wagner.

A family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, August 15 at Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel with a funeral service at 10:00 am Monday in the Davis-Morris Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.

Services entrusted to the care of the staff of Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel, Brownwood.
