The Brownwood Municipal Development District Board of Directors on Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of two sets of illuminated street signs – eight in total – for downtown Brownwood for a total of $6,582.29.
The signs will be placed at the intersections of Baker Street and Center Avenue along with Baker Street and Fisk Avenue and will be constructed by Lite and Barricade of Brownwood. The signs hang from traffic signals but are illuminated from the inside and connect to power through the traffic signal poles.
City of Brownwood crews will handle the installation of the signs, which will be white with black lettering.
The BMDD board also approved accepting the transfer of $487,251 of old BEDC funds from the City of Brownwood back to the BMDD.
