James Donald Bailiff, age 87, of Brownwood passed away peacefully Sunday, June 27, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.

Graveside Services for James will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at Indian Creek Cemetery with Jerry Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to graveside services from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

James was born on March 11, 1934, to Howard K. and Rena Belle (Ragland) Bailiff in Haskell County. James was a rancher, businessman, and an amazing father and husband. James and his wife, Ann, were foster parents, fostering 63 children over the years. In 2001, they received Parents of the Year Award for the State of Texas. He was a very humble man and extremely efficient in everything he did.

James is survived by his children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 1 brother.

He is reunited with his wife of 52 years, Ann Bailiff; two sons, Jimmy and Howard; his parents; and 8 siblings.
